ROGESA names Vale its “TOP Supplier 2024” in the iron ore category
ROGESA Roheisen- und Rohstoffgesellschaft Saar mbh (ROGESA) and ZKS Zentralkokerei Saar GmbH (ZKS), both joint subsidiaries of Aktien-Gesellschaft der Dillinger Hüttenwerke (Dillinger) and Saarstahl AG, recently recognized the Brazilian iron ore producer Vale as a “Top Supplier 2024”.
A supplier management system was introduced at ROGESA and ZKS in 2019 as part of a sustainability strategy. Since then, defined sustainability and quality criteria have been used to identify suppliers whose performance is especially impressive with respect to product quality, adherence to quantities and deadlines, flexibility in changing conditions, technical support and sustainability.
The partnership between ROGESA and Vale has been in place since the mid-1970s. Since then, Vale, the world’s largest iron ore exporter with a market share of 35 percent, has supplied 120 million tons of iron ore carriers (pellets, fine ore and lump ore).
“Today’s award is more than just recognition,” said Markus Lauer, Board member responsible for finance and procurement at Dillinger, with Frank Becker, Managing Director of ROGESA and ZKS, at the award ceremony. “It is an expression of appreciation for a long-standing, reliable partner. We will continue strengthening our basis for innovation and sustainability with them in the future, so we are able to proactively plan the transformation process.”
Last year, ROGESA and Vale concluded a multi-year supply agreement for blast furnace and direct reduction pellets. This enabled ROGESA to secure high-quality input materials for the DRI plant for the Saarland steel industry.
