Solidarity during the holiday season: Dillinger supports the Tafel food bank with a St. Nicholas campaign

Dillinger expresses its solidarity with the region with a EUR 5,000 donation to the Tafel food bank in Dillingen. The donation will be used to provide non-perishable food items to people in need during the Christmas season.

Supporting the local food bank is a matter of special concern for Dillinger. As in years past, the company is making a significant contribution with this donation to ensure a well-balanced supply of non-perishable food for clients of the Tafel food bank in Dillingen over the holidays.

“We are happy to be able to help needy families in the region during the Christmas season with this St. Nicholas campaign,” said Juliane Wernet, Communications at Dillinger. “Our thanks especially go to the many volunteers at the food bank in Dillingen, who have also shown special dedication to providing Tafel customers with food during the coronavirus pandemic.”

Food is distributed once a week to people with low incomes in Dillingen, in compliance with all necessary protective measures. The food bank currently supports almost 800 needy people in the Dillingen area with food.

Retailers primarily provide fruit and vegetables as well as other fresh produce and dairy products to the food banks. Foodstuffs like UHT milk, margarine, flour, rice and noodles are less often included in the range of goods offered by the food banks, since their longer shelf life means stores rarely give them out. These long-life products are especially needed during the holiday season to supply the Tafel customers. The food donated by Dillinger is therefore going to the people who need it at just the right time.
