Dillinger heavy plate for the
Pleyel bridge in Paris
Weathering-resistant steel from Dillinger at the Olympic Games in Paris
The Pleyel bridge in Saint-Denis in Paris is more than just a functional link. The infrastructure project stands as a major global, ambitious and innovative project, which will have a decisive impact on the urban development.
The construction of the bridge will create public space in the centre of the city. One bus lane, two general-purpose traffic lanes, two cycle lanes and vast pedestrian areas – the Pleyel bridge offers many possibilities for usage.
The bridge will also play a key role for the Olympic Games 2024, as it will primarily ensure the access to the Olympic sites. The bridge links the athletes’ village in the west, the Stade de France stadium as well as the Olympic aquatic centre in the east. The structure also spans several railway tracks of the third largest rail yard in the world, Paris Nord.
With a total length of 300 m and an average width of 28 to 42 m, this structure has huge dimensions. If the access ramps at both ends are considered, there is an impressive total length of 700 m.
The final completion of the bridge is scheduled for 2026. However, the first section of this breathtaking bridge was inaugurated and put into operation this year. This is an important pedestrian bridge for the realisation of the Olympic Games.
Dillinger delivered approximately 940 t weathering-resistant steel plates of steel grade S460K2W+M in plate thicknesses of 18 – 80 mm. True to the Olympic spirit – being there is everything – Dillinger steel was therefore also part of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
