Dillinger heavy plates for the
Heron Tower in London
Dillinger heavy plates for London’s new skyline
Over the years the City of London’s skyline has continually evolved as higher and more prominent buildings take shape. One of these new structures in this continuing process is Heron Tower, the new landmark office building in the City of London.
Located close to Liverpool Street Station, at 110 Bishopsgate, in the very heart of the financial and historic center of the City, Heron Tower is one London’s newest skyscraper. The 46-storey tower rises to 230 m (755 ft) in height and it is one of the tallest buildings in the City of London.
A benchmark for innovation
Unlike the earlier generation of monolithic formed buildings in the City, Heron Tower is an open, transparent and articulated structure integrating innovative advanced technology to promote environmental responsibility and to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of the building. Extensive use of clear glass on the building façades maximizes daylight to the office floors, reducing the need for artificial lighting and thus the energy consumption. The building has achieved a BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) environmental and sustainability rating of “Excellent”.
Moreover the three village concept is an innovative, original and inspiring development in office design and efficiency. It provides highly flexible work-spaces.
Dillinger has delivered for this architectonically distinguished building nearly 1,800 t of heavy plate in grades S355ML / NL in thicknesses of 80 to 150 mm, which are characterized by special deformation properties in the thickness direction.
